posting for a friend who has a 59 bird but no computer at home.

wants to swap his transmission as it's slipping. Has access to a 71 Ford Galaxie 390 auto C-6

question is this a direct swap as far as flywheel, starter, convertor and transmission goes?

He know about mounts he;ll has to fab.

Smile swap a matic

you can do this , bu tto me the tranny seemed to close to the tunnel at the top unter the hood.. I'd fix the cruise o matic .. with it you can
swap down shift band from bottom and wont have to mess with driveshaft or linkage adjustment .
Is the tranny stuck in drive 2 position if so it's starting out in second
gear... good for snow or drive one it will yank fairly quick in
low then shift to second at 16-19 mph light pedal . and this is all
ajustable to your prefurance . you can make the iron case bust the
windshield for every gear change if you want . real easy...
stick with cruise -o........
