I was replacing my glove box and shorted one of the fuses in the light switch. I didn't know which was which, so I pulled both fuses.
The fuse toward the console is the dome light fuse, and should be 7.5 amps. The one toward the door is for the signal flasher and should be 5 amps.
Guess what -- both fuses in there were 25 amp fuses. Can you imagine --- 25 amp fuses for the dome light and flasher wiring
When I went to AZ to get new fuses, they only stock 25 amp fuses in the short size that we need. That's why "whoever" probably used those fuses. I was told that Radio shack sells fuses in the right size -- need to go there in the morning.
A word of warning -- If you bought your Bird second hand, or even if you bought it new and had someone work on it, checking those fuses is a must do item. I can see now why some T-Birds go up in smoke.
Oh -- Disconnect the battery cable before you pull the fuses to check them so you won't have any sparks.
