    Some Golde Top Statistics

One of our members Down Under just bought a 1960 430MEL Golde Top out of Florida! I do not have pix of it yet, or many of the details. I was going through John Rotella's statistics for the 1960 Golde Top cars. Of the 208 listed in his database, only 43 were listed as having AC. A good number of those in that listing no longer are with us, having been parted out or crushed. How sad! One of the rarest of the Tbirds is becoming rarer still. I don't guess we will ever find out how many Golde Tops with AC were produced. Apparently, they did not keep records like that back then. It has been said there were about 100. byersmtrco says only 377 were produced with the 430MEL engine.

Is that the one I was looking at in Clearwater? The seller was supposed to call me Sunday and never did, or if he did, he left no message. Just checked on Ebay and it's listed as sold. Was going to call him today but was waiting around to see if you contacted the member re checking on the car or if he knew of an appraiser in the area. Really liked the car, but not enough to buy without seeing it.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. Nick

      Some Golde Top Statistics

      HI Nick,

The member there never returned my email. I do not know if that was the one in Clearwater or not. The one that was bought as a '60 430MEL Golde Top with the Beechwood Brown paint job and the Code 84 two tone leather interior, with external chrome kit and rear antenna. If that is the one, it is headed for Australia.

                Richard,

Glad to hear it! That is a spectacular car you've bought. Since the auction appeared, it's been in the back of my mind as well as many others I'm sure. It's an awesome color combination not to mention 430 SR AC car.

Another member, Vernz, has a twin to your car he bought from California, it's an original survivor. Hope to see him join in here soon.

                Best of luck.

                      Hi Richard,

Thanks for posting more pix of her! The external chrome kit really sets her off well, I think. She is certainly nice looking. It is great to know the history of a car, and in your case, know that Ken Harkema is the one who restored her, considering his vast experience with restoring Tbirds, judging, and judge training. And to have contact with him also. I have not been able to find anything out about my Tbird beyond the last owner. I probably could if I really wanted to dig into it though.

She is really beautiful and an inspiration to me as I have the exact matching car (except for trunk mount antenna). It will take some work to get my car up to the standards of yours though. Here's a picture of mine getting loaded for shipment when I bought it.

Yup, Vernz, except for the antenna, she is the spitting image of Richards Tbird! They are both beautiful Tbirds!

Nice to see a pic of the other twin
Is you carpet original? Can you post a pic of it for me to see the colour as I need to replace it and can't work out the colour.
Spoke to Ken who built the car and he dyed the carpet as the one he bought he didn't like the colour of
