    Starter Issues

I again have a problem with my 60 T B1RD I keep hearing that there is a seal / shim that goes between the starter and the bellhousing, but when I call the auto parts store I was told that there is not one, and the starter was put in wrong and unloaded the starter gear and it needs repair. I read in a past post in arcives (starter search) that there is one. does any one know the size of this seal/shim and where I can get it. I was hoping to get it running for easter.

    Thanks

    RE: Starter Issues

Well I do not know if this is good news or not I found out that I do not have the origanal engine in my car so the starter question does not matter. But I did get to see what a 1960 starter looks like. COOL

      RE: Starter Issues

I`m looking in an old motor`s auto repair manual for 53 to 63 models
and they show a seal between the starter and the engine, they also mention you must put the pilot bolt in first to keep the starter from being installed in a tilted position. I can send a pic of the diagram if U like. Good luck finding the seal.
