Casting Dates - Block & exhaust manifold

While I have the suspension out, I was able to check some numbers cast into the passenger side of the block near the front and the underside of the passenger exhaust manifold. I haven't checked the driver's manifold yet. If I understand them right, they seem to verify that this is likely the original engine in my car.

    On the block I found:

B8AE60158 (Not completely sure about the 'B' or the '5')
    0F22:3

    On the passenger manifold:

575J204 (Not sure about the 'J')
    0F 22

I the '0F22 on each the casting date?

    0 meaning 1960
    F meaning June
    22 meaning the 22nd?

My car has a build date of 0G26, so that means (assuming I'm reading it right) that these parts were cast a month before my car was built and are likely the originals.

I have pictures I can post later, but I need to get back out to the garage.

      Date Codes

You are correct in your decoding of the casting number dates.

Exhaust casting number should read 5751204

In reviewing the VTCI concours rules the block could be
      B8A-6010-B or D.

These numbers as a whole are cast in sand and many times they are poor at best and many times are hard to read.

Above the dip stick is a flat piece that sticks out from the block Stamped into this will be build info on your engine.

The :3 is third shift for the block.

Yes you are correct this is probably the original engine.

      Good Luck
