Dash Pad Dye - how many cans of spray?

    59 Convertible.

I'm using SEM Color Coat and the spray can (12 oz) says coverage is 7.5 square feet. My estimate is that two cans should be sufficient for Red dye over a new pad white base.

Who has practical experience? How many cans did you use?

    Thanks ....

The last time I sprayed a white dash it only took one can and I still have some left.

I recommend that you use their vinyl prep spray first.

Make sure the dash is clean. If Armor All or similar products were used on it, wash it several times with a detergent, wipe a couple with alcohol won't hurt either. Use the adhesion promoter and spray the first coat or two very lightly. Several light coats will be much better than complete coverage in two. Not a difficult job, but cleanliness is a key factor.
