What is this? ( AC related )

I wonder if anyone know what this is? And what does it do? Itīs located on the low pressure housing between the AC and the compressor, and not with high pressure connectors either. Itīs left to the water reservoar.

I canīt find it in any AC manual so Iīm not even sure it should be there...

    Hey Anders,
That be a Automotive Reclaim Filter Dryer, Cooling Filter Dryers - AC! They are usually installed when system failed and was rework, to remove contaminates.

Do I need it? I mean, There is already a AC Reciever/Dryer in the car. Do they do the same thing? I plan ( Eeeh.. I hope...,fingers crossed.. ) to go through my AC system and make it work again. Can use it again? Should I buy a new one? I tryed to wash it out once. It is "half-hard" to blow thru it.

          Anders,

You don't want to reuse it. They can be full of stuff you dont want to introduce to your rebuilt system.

            Hey Keith,
You took the words right out of mouth! Anders, get a new one. If a AC system fails you get containments in the whole system! If you do not use a new one or one, more than likely your new upgraded system will FAIL!
