    Rebuilt Starter

    Hello,
On a rebuilt starter should there be any end-play on the armature shaft that holds the drive? If so, do you know a tolarance. I have about 1/8 inch on mine and this seems like alot.
    Thanks

    RE: Rebuilt Starter

    Well,
I have measured the end-play and came up with .101. I contacted the rebuilder and they had "no idea" what it should be. I decided to add an additional .70 thrust washer and suprise suprise my problem was fixed.

When I would brake the drive would travel forward and rub the flex plate.

The good news that I am now and expert on R/R of starters.
