metal tab in transmission oil pan, experience asked

    Hi,

I am posting this subject again.

I need to reweld the metal tab in the oil pan of my Cruise O Matic transmission, but I still haven't found any picture or information regarding this tab. Mine broke when I touched it. I am sure that someone must have noticed the tab during transmission oil change.

Does anyone know how the tab needs to be weld in? Should it be bend as how I found it (see picture) or should it be placed vertical?

See my questions and pictures on http://www.squarebirds.org/dcforum/DCForumID1/329.html

    Thanks,

    Hans

I will ask my mechanic friend tomorrow what the function of that tab is.

I asked my friend. The tab is there to ensure the transmission filter does not fall down. It points upwards.

Every piece on a car has a function obviously.
