Found this in my Tbird. What is it?

This item was installed in my Thunderbird before I bought it. Anybody know what it is? I'll include a picture link. http://bananatreeboi.tumblr.com/post/140804552725

My guess would be a knob to balance a rear speaker installed by the PO.

I couldn't find a rear speaker in the back when I looked. I have a 1960 which weren't equipped with those add ons.

Where do the wires go? There is no facility on a 1960 to add a rear speaker, there is only the center console speaker

If it had electric wipers, I'd say it's a variable delay add on.

I wish it did have the electric wipers, but it's the original vacuum wiper system in the car.

                Rear Speaker

Anything is possible on a 55 year old car. This is definitely an add on and not factory, but it works.

I'd give the previous owner a call & see if he knows.
If you haven't looked yet, see if there's anything coming out from the back. Maybe it had a knob in front for a Manual Choke.

That's just odd though, center of console and center of rear parcel shelf......reminds me of back in the 70s when all that mattered was how many speakers you had, not placement of function.

I looked and can't bring myself to cut any holes, but those kind of arm rest things in the back seat would make perfect speaker locations!!!

Don't have contacts for the previous owner, car is equipped with an automatic choke that is original, but when I get the car back from the shop I'll have to trace where those wires lead

If it is not electrical, could it be some kind of weird aftermarket hood lock?
