I recently purchased a 65 T Bird and was just about to ship it over to Germany where I live, I called to verify the vin number with the title my Dad said they match, he was looking at the vehicle plate on the driver door, he cant find the vin on the radiator support ( maybe damaged in a accident) or on the firewall, is there any insulation or hood seal that needs to be removed to see the two vin locations on the firewall or do you look down a vent, this is my first post seems to be a good forum.

The VIN numbers should be easy to see. If they're not I would be concerned that they are hidden or removed for a reason. There is also one under the cowl.

Thanks Joe I've been wondering about this myself. I saw a TV show a while back where they had found an old Mustang wreck to rebuild, and it turned out to be worthless because the VIN was destroyed. It was located on the inner fender in front of the spring tower, driver's side.
On my car that area had to be replaced because of severe rust and I didn't even think, when I did the work years ago, that I may have inadvertently destroyed the VIN.
I'll print out your diagram and see if I can locate one or three of them.Comment

If you remove the cowl panel you should see it on the passenger side. It's right about where the diagram shows it.
