    Leaf spring replacement

I recently discovered some shoddy work where the front of the leaf spring attaches to the frame on my 1962 T-Bird. The rust was basically just covered up. The spring needs to be removed and and the mounting area repaired. Has anyone done this work? Are there any repair patches for this or does it have to be fabricated?

    Any information is appreciated.

Leaf spring perches are typically a bracket that is welded to the frame. Am I surprised yours rusted away? I think any car that survived the past fifty years is amazing. Most of them were crushed decades ago.

I assume your springs are the originals in which case, your shoddy workmanship outlasted every warranty I've ever heard of. You might give your whole car a good inspection. If you discovered one shoddy job you might find two.
