number of heater core hoses on a 62

I have several leaks in the block and until I come across a block locally I will have to wait for that but in the time being I would like to stop the leaks for awhile. Iwas told that the KW sealant from auto zone is very good. This material is something like water glass that if your not careful you can damage the heater core.I see two hoses going to my firewall one is a much bigger diameter than the smaller one. The bigger one is to the water pump and the other I beleive goes right to the core. Is the one that goes to the core have to be disconnected I beleive When after I flush several times to rid the antifreeze out and then put in the product and let it run for about 15 minutes or so. Any other concerns should I be aware of. Larry

The heater core ought to be one hose in and one out. Easiest thing might be to disconnect them and then connect them together for temporary purposes (you made need to fudge an adapter if they are different size hoses). Same thing works if your heater develops a leak and you want to keep driving until you get it fixed.
