Yeah... that's the kind of advice I need. I've been weighing pros and cons...can't come up with many pros. A great place to store the car, it was a nice honor, but ... I need it back.

that's the ticket!
They've had a chance to enjoy your car all this time.
It's served its purpose and you've done your duty.
Now it's time for you to enjoy it.
When you brag about it, you can still say: "my car was featured in a museum!!" (which is very cool by the way).
Nobody will ask you if it was one year or two years!
ha!!
better go get it before gas goes back to $4 a gallon!CaseyComment

Mike absolutely get your baby back and start crusin again. Your original decision to allow the museum to show it off was most admirable and done in " good faith". Now it is time to have them outsource another one and test the patience of that owner

Hah You guys are right. Thanks for the opinions. If I left it there another year I'm sure I would be buying another car in the meantime. My very tolerant wife already thinks I'm nuts as I've had 48 cars since '74 (I actually have a spreadsheet.) So in 12 weeks I'll be firing her up and driving it 50 miles back home with a smile.Comment

I was thinking about that too...Bold, but can't hurt to ask !Comment

Raven is back home in the nest. She missed me .....
I found her pushed into a back room near the museum's lonely back dock next to a Hudson also waiting to leave Saturday. The battery was totally dead. I was promised it would be charged when I arrived. One front tire was a little soft.... I was getting angry, until the museum VP, who's also the town police chief, approached and was very apologetic. He pulled his Crown Vic cruiser into the building and jump started me after a little fresh gas poured into the carb.. She fired right up after sitting for a year. One squeaky belt, filled the tire, one cut finger and I was on my way.
It was about 10 miles down a two lane highway until I readjusted to the steering and brakes again. Temp gauge never went above "E". These Birds love the 60 degree days... it was just purring... I jumped on it to "Clean 'er out"....and the smile grew....
It wasn't long until my right arm was back in position on the passenger seat back and I was flying along at 70 mph with a a big grin on my face.
When we got home, I cleaned some cobwebs from under the hood and let her sit. Can't do any more driving until I get the WAY overdue safety inspection done and it's supposed to rain all week.
Two things I plan to do this summer... front and rear sway bars. I'm told it makes a huge difference in handling... and electric wipers.Attached FilesComment
