    Yellow Rose's Paint Job

The work has begun on prepping Rose for her paint job. Here is the web page that I have created so you can follow along. I will take and post as many pix as I can without getting in the way. Here is the link to it.

Yer on the way now Ray!

Techy question: did they use regular bondo or the liquid metal filler?
And what kind of paint are you using?

          Yellow Rose's Paint Job

Thanks for the comments! I am not sure what they used on fixing the front and what they are using on the sides now. JD mentioned that they use liquid metal filler these days, but it looks like they used regular bondo on the front repairs. I can ask him. As for paint, it will be Dupont, or PPG, if I remember right. I do know that it will have the pearl effect applied to both white and yellow. How many coats depends on how dark the pearl effect changes the paint color he said. They will apply one coating of pearl and we will look at it and see if it makes it to dark. If not, they will apply another coating and take another look at it. They could put on a third coat if I or they think it will not make the color to dark. That is how he explained it to me. We don't want to get it to dark so that it does not match the interior color well.

As for the hubcaps, I thought they were just some generic type of hubcaps. I bought them because of the propellers on them. They will come off and down the road, the Ford "dog dish" and beauty rings will go on the rims which have been painted yellow already. Here is a pic of what the "dog dish" hubcaps look like with a beauty ring installed. And a shot of what the four of them look like without rings or caps. I think the addition of beauty rings and "dog dish" caps will show just enough yellow to be tasteful and not overpowering..

            Looks good pal!!

I've been flip flopping about changing mine.
The Mustang supplier that got me these wheels
actually found me a nicer set (minimal rust etc)
So . . . I'm going to sandblast these badboys and
either chrome them . . . Or most likely paint them
Corinthian White (or close) like the car. The red just
            isn't doing it for me.
            A buddy of mine has a 57 Fairlane w/these wheels &
caps. His are white like the car. He is not running trim
rings so it's a little too much white, but I like it better.

                      Cost of paint job

                      Hi Ray,
well needless to say I have postponesd my paint job,but ai was wondering what neighborhood are you in for the cost of the paint job. Not that I could make the trip, but I may start searching again, the prices I have been estimated are all over the board.

Here's an update, they changed my meds to an opium patch that i change every 3 days- I am flying without a plane or bird.

                        Hi Sal!

I hope that your treatment is going well for you. I can imagine that you probably are flying without a plane or a car with that treatment! Good luck in your recovery! I will PM you.

                          Yellow Rose's Paint Job

Yesterday, we went over the test paint samples that JD's painter Tony did. Everything looks okay. It is difficult to get an exact match with that interior yellow material. What was selected is as close a yellow color as we can find. Painting starts next week.

Today, I ran the chrome out to SW Chrome and we broke it down for chroming. You will see the results of that on the web page. I just posted about a half dozen pix. Here is the link to it.

JD sez she should be finished and totally put back together in 3 more weeks. If we make that schedule, that will give me a month to get the interior all cleaned up again, and get her ready to go to the VTCI Regional. I will wait on the disc brake job until after that is over. I have new seals, gaskets and some other chrome parts coming in, like new Tbird emblems, etc. They should be here next week.

Sal just a quick hello and hang in there with these meds. You will have plenty of time after you beat this thing, to fly in your bird with your new paint.
