Electric windshield wiper conversion for '60 'Bird

    Hello everyone:
I'm a newbie to this board. Does anyone know of a company that offers a reliable/well-engineered electric conversion for the factory vacuum-activated windshield wipers. I want to replace the factory set up.

    Thanks for you time.

    Cordially,

    Mark S. Gustavson

I have not had experience with the electric wiper conversions.

There is a company that rebuilds the vacuum wiper motor. It works quite well when rebuilt.

I have used: Ficken Wiper Service 132 Calvert Ave West Babylon, NY 11704 (631)587-3332 MF 9-5 EST (fax)661-9125. I have brought the motor to them at their Carlisle fair booth.

Their website at www.wiperman.com/ seems to be down now.

Most major T-Bird suppliers on the market supply the 2 speed electric wiper kit and its pretty easy to install.
www.macsautoparts.com is one dealer selling the kit at $225.00 but if you cant stand vacume and live where its wet all the time this sis the way to go.
Post a message back and i will take you step by step for the instullation of the kit.

One thing i forgot to mention is that you can retain the white wiper knob if you want to. You can remove the black knob from the kit and put the original knob back on, the only way people will know you have electric wipers is when you switch them on.
I had the pleasure of Lou Panalli President of V.T.C.I. ride in my 352 Golde top in the rain around the M25 London, as soon as i switch them on he was amazed how well the kit works. My 430 Golde Top will soon have the kit installed aswell.
            Kev.
