Chris ~ bird 60, from Adelaide, sent me a bunch of pix of their All American Day event. Chris said there were 455 "Yanks Tanks", as they are called, at this event. I will post them in two posts. To many to put them all in one. I enjoy looking at the pix of what the guys and gals down under have in the way of classic cars. I also enjoy looking at the cars in the background to get an even better view of what they are working with. As you can see, it was a cloudy day and it rained a bit. So they had to wipe down the cars again. Thanks for the pix, Chris!

A bit like NZ - there's heaps of Yank Tanks here and more arriving regularly.
Kiwis being Kiwis will even import cars that a lot of you Stateside guys would regard as 'junkers' and then restore/hot rod them.
Because we're so far from the 'source; of these cars we can''t all afford to be too fussy about the condition of the car and even then more than one has been burned when the lovely car in the picture that they bought turns out to be a rusted out patched up and painted over 'dunger' (Kiwi expression for junker)
I was at the Beach Hop about three weekends ago and they had 1050+ entries, most were Yank Tanks, most of a very high standard. (Google 'Beach Hop 2011 pictures' to have a look at them).
BTW: I did 2058 miles getting there and back in my 429 powered '55 F100 and went through $1,300 worth of gas!! (If I'd used the Thunderbird it would have been about $1,500 at least!)A Thunderbirder from the Land of the Long White Cloud.Comment

See? If you want to arrive in style, it costs more money. If you took the bus it would have cost under a grand.Member, Sons of the American Revolution
