    Ignition lockset replacement/lost key

Help! I have a lockset with no key, and I can't remove it from the ignition switch. Any suggestions, or do I have to go to a locksmith?

Can I assume the igniton switch is out of the car? (If not, unplug your wiring and remove the switch from the dash.)

The procedure requires a key to turn and remove the tumblers. There are only five pins which makes these switches rather easy to fool. If the lock set is up in years, just about any key will work if finessed.

A locksmith can certainly do the job and his price should be inexpensive provided you bring the whole switch to his shop. - Dave
