Can anyone tell me if the resistance of the original, in-console, factory speaker was 4 or 8 ohms??

Those radios didn't put out much power, John. Speaker was dynamic range 4-ohm impedance.

Mr. Goulet good to see you on the site. Dave answered before I could re 4 ohms, as I had an issue with my wife's 58 radio and had it repaired. Won't be long before we are cruisin again

Red face only center speaker car i know of !

4 ohms , <was gonna try suncoast classic's sound system
dual voice coil speaker ,hence the two voice coils
in parralell , will half the 8 ohms to 4 for the ford
power amp . total height is 2.20 inches tall
but at 70 bucks$ still worht a look.
