    emergency 4 way lights

Happy Holidays Everyone. It Has Been A While Since My Last Post.i Am Going To Put My 58 In The Christmas Parade In My Hometown This Sunday And Wanted To Know If The 58's Had 4 Way Flashers. If So Where Is It , If Not Is There Any Way Put One On. Everything Has To Have Lights On So I Got Some Rope Lights And An Inverter To Run Them Off The Cigarette Lighter But I Would Like To Use The 4 Ways Also. Thanks For Any Info.

    4 Way Flashers

Tom my 58 never had 4 way flashers and I don't think they were available until the mid to late 60's. Someone else may be able to let us know just when.. A temporary system will be needed if reqired for the parade.

I added 4-way flashers to my '59. There are kits from the sixties and seventies to add 4-way flashers. You might still be able to get a kit from JC Whitney.

If you find a kit somewhere, I'd like to know.

Got stuck at night a year ago in the right lane, and I SURE could have used them then.

          Thanks

I could not find any 4 way flasher kits on eBay. I remember years ago, those kits were common in catalogs and auto stores. There are some on eBay. Get the universal kits. There is no specific one that was ever made for the Squarebird by Ford.

I hear ya "bcomo" , I ALWAYS turn on my left turnsignal and leave it on when I'm pulled off on the right side of the roadway. I figured at least something is blinking/flashing to alert other drivers, and if nothing else they will move over into the left most lane (away from me), thinking I'm pulling back out into the right lane....

It would be easy enough to make your own. You'd just need a good "flasher", which only cost a few dollars. Wire it yourself with a toggle-switch hidden somewhere.

                    4-Way Do it your self

I I tried to make my own 4-way would I buy a turn flasher ,toggle switch, and run power through the toggle to the flasher unit them a seperate wire the both tail lights and parking lights. If I do it this way when I turn my turn signal to make a turn could that back feed through my 4-way flasher and make all four lights flash.

4 way flashers is very easy for our cars as you can use an early to mid 60's F series truck unit and it plugs right in. It was optional on trucks but is common enough. It was available on 61 and newer units and the wiring connectors are almost identical so it is as if it was designed for us. Hawkrod

Ford used to make a universal kit. Attached to the strg/clmn.
Clunky thing. I would think a toggle, pwr'd up by the brake light hot lead with a flasher. At least the four t/lamps would be flashing.
