    Floor shifter options

I'm considering putting in a floor shifter for my COM. It must be one that locks in Park.
What are my options and what are the considerations in making this happen.

    Thanks again.

You'll have to make a hole in the console for it. The shifter I have is a Hurst V-matic 2.

That looks good. What trany do you have?

What did you have to do to the shifter arm on the trany?

Are you using a cable, or a rod for the linkage from shifter to trany shifter arm?

I don't see a gear indicator on the shifter, did this not work out? Not that this matters, I don't have one now.

      Thanks.

C6 transmission. the shifter comes with a cable which is attached to the shift arm on the transmission. Gear indicator was lost, and I don't really care about that anyways. I made a piece out of brushed stainless steel sheet to cover the hole around the outside of the black shifter housing, as the previous owner had the console chopped up pretty bad. You might be able to fabricate something better. My options were fairly limited.

Depends on the look you're going for, I'm thinking a short Lokar shifter could be installed to look like it belongs there. The big Hurst looking units seem more dragster than T-Bird, but it's all a preference.

I wonder if the C6 vs the COM will have significant differences in how to set up the floor shifter. I think, at the very least, I'll need to do a lot of trial and error fitting and fabricating for the trany shifter arm.

            I'm leaning towards a Hurst pro-matic

So would it be safe to assume that a shifter that fits a C4, or C6 will work with a COM?

              Thanks again.

Years ago, a buddy of mine had a 69 Super Bee.
383 4 sp car. he wound up putting a 440 with Automatic
in it. We bought an early Mustang floor shifter from the
                    flea market. $5.00 . . . Worked perfect. Didn't look bad

Reason no 4 spd . . . No provis in the crank for an inp/shft
or pilot gear. Hard to believe they'd have a diff crank for
                    A/T or M/T . . . But we are talkin MOPAR.
