Dear Birders
I have the 352ci in my 60 Bird and it runs smooth, but when the car hits around 60-70 MPH there is a strange knocking noise like if you were to gargle a glass of water from the engine. Its hard to explain the noise in words but it only happens when i put my foot on the gas pedal,if the car free wheels at speed there is no noise. I have been told that it sounds like my hydraulic lifters and possible pushrods need to be replaced. My car has covered 85000 miles and is beleived to be correct it also does not use alot of oil . The engine idles very well and still has plenty power left on standing starts.
