The answer may depend on how you want it to look. Are you trying to duplicate the colors as they came from the factory in 1958? or are you trying to duplicate the colors as they would have then aged over 46 years?
I have a 1958 with red and white interior. The steering column and console are original. The steering column is a fairly flat red, somewhat orange in fact. The console, which has a different finish, is comparable but a tad shinier. But then I had to replace the dash pad as it was dead and installed a nice new one which is a serious RED! No fading, maybe more like what it appeared as in 1958. So I have an interior which is inconsistent. As I have no intention of repainting either the steering column or console (or the skirts that attach to the console or the metal pieces on the edge of the dash pad that border the windshield or......), it will all stay this way. But if I were after a near Concours result, I would have alot more work to do.
For the vinyl such as the console and package tray on my red and white interior '59 T-Bird I have used SEM vinyl spray Portola Red - available from Eastwood Restorations. I have used Cherry Red Krylon spray for the steering column. It looks good.
Alexander do you know if FoMoCo used the Brandywine Red on the steering column and under the dash or did they use a red to match the dash and console? I'm going to use SEM Portola Red vinyl spray from Eastwood Restorations. I seen the dash you dyed on the sight and it looks nice. Hows it holding up?
