Removing vent window frame on 1959 Bird

Any one have sugestions on how to remove the vent window frame.

I removed the nuts that I could see, but there appears to be one in the top behind the upper door lip that I can not get to.

And how do you remove the bolts that look like they have a slot for a flat head srewdriver, are they suspose to come out?

    Thanks,

    Barry

First the side glass has to be removed.

Those slotted bolts are for adjusting/aligning the vent window frame. Just remove the lock-nuts and then turn them in clockwise several turns so you can gain some wiggle-room. There will be two of these behind the door panel, and one on the top of the door (in the "dog-leg" area). There will also be one long bolt directly below the vent window latch mechanism that will have to be removed completely.

Once these four fasteners have been dealt with, then the vent frame can be pulled up and out of the door.

Thanks, its the long bolt at top that just keeps spinning.

How do you get a wrench on theback side?

Originally the long top bolt fastened into a "U" nut. May have other names, but it is a threaded collar attached to a U shaped spring. The U fits snugly over a bracket attached to the inside of the door and it is kept from turning by the clamping power of the u shaped spring and interference with the bracket.
It sounds like the collar has broken loose from the U and is spinning freely with the bolt, or the threads in the collar are stripped. Using a light or with your hand, see what is turning inside the door. If the collar is turning, clamp it with a good pair of vise grips and remove the bolt. If it is stripped, try to pull on the bolt with needle nose vise grips while loosening it. If this fails, get a hack saw blade up inside the door behind the vent frame and cut the bolt. You can now remove the vent frame and have a better view of the U nut and the cause of your problem.
