Golde Top Pix From Rockin' Kev

Here are some pix of Golde Tops on other than Tbirds. Some are in German, for those who can read them. These came out of some of his books he has on Golde Tops. The first pic might be of a manually operated system. The 2nd and 3rd might be of a powered system. The 4th pic is of a '58 Ford Fairlane with the sun roof and wind bar. That wind bar looks quite a bit different to me than what is on the '60 Tbirds. I have no idea if the Ford plant built it like that, or if Golde bought one and put it on to show Ford how they could look. The last pic is of a '59 Pontiac with a sun roof. Thanks for the pix, Kev! Enjoy!

    Cheers RAY,
The steel sliding roof could be order with a plexiglass insert, nice touch, the brochure shows the manual option and yes the power option, you could order a power golde roof.
What i find intereting is that when i had a Golde fitted in my British Ford Zodiac it had golde inscribed on the handle but on both my golde Birds the handle was plain.
Even the handle on the 1958 Fairlane has an inscription if you look closely
    Kev.

Golde Top Pix From Rockin' Kev

Thanks for the additional comments, Kev. I suspect that Ford wanted everyone to think that the Golde Tops were theirs and did not want the Golde name on anything... Just a guess. Thanks for sending me the pix.

Kev, thanks very much! Great pictures and information!

On the windbar, I will venture a guess it was something gotten from the boat industry and adapted to that Ford. Other literature I read suggested Golde used boat hardware and if you think about it, for purposes of a photo shoot, they would go about getting such hardware as easily as possible vs building something from scratch.

Since we are on Golde Tops and windbars, does anyone who has worked on these know if the windbar is a cast piece (referring to the main, wrap-around tube) or formed steel tubing? The latter would seem easier as no casting involved.

The main piece is not a tube. It is a half diameter stamped piece of stainless steel. I took some pictures of my standoffs and you can see the structure of the main windbar.
