Does anyone have any "Tricks" or fix on tightening up loose sloppy wing windows? Mine open just fine but just keep blowing in the wind. It's my only source of A/C you know.
Thanks
One of ten short videos in a playlist demonstrating how to remove and repair a loose vent window on a 1956 Ford F100 Pick-up truck; also includes Door and Wi...
I have looked through the vent window section of the shop manual but cannot tell whether it uses a similar bush arrangement
I have not looked at the u-tube clip above but on my '55 F100 the adjustment is by tightening a spring loaded nut on the lower pivot shaft, of course it's a trial and error job to get the tension right - but not overdo it!
I have good access with the inside panel taken off the door but don't know what the access is like on a Thunderbird door.

The Thunderbird definitely uses a set screw on the top pivot to tighten the windwing. As stated, you can tighten the set screw until the window has the resistance that you want. There is a nylon taper bushing that it puts pressure against, so if the window doesn't tighten, the bushing may be broken or missing. It will keep the window open as your cruising down the hwy and your AC will be again be functioning. ;-)
The procedure is also in the service manual if you have one.
