    Need Trans fixed

We have a brand new member, tara, who has a '60 Tbird with some problems that might need our assistance. She is in the Clearwater, Tampa, St. Petersburg area of Florida. Do we have anyone in that area that could point her in the direction of a good Tbird mechanic that she can trust? It certainly would be helpful. You can see the problems she has run into in my Welcome to her in the New Members Welcoming Forum.

New Member Tara May Need Help

The Bird Nest in Oregon has new horn rings $140. The Bid House in Delaware probably has them also. Both of them might have them used. All our Tbird parts houses are listed in the Advertisements Forum below.

New Member Tara May Need Help

Hi Tara, I sent you an email last night. If you did not receive it, please look in your Spam or Deleted folder. Email software packages seem to put emails that they do not have in their address book into the Spam or Deleted folder. So if you do not see it, look there.

Everyone on this Forum should have my rayclark07@att.net webmaster@squarebirds.org and Dave Dare ~ simplyconnected, our webmaster ~ Simplyconnected@aol.com email address in their address book so we can communicate with you via email when needed. I often receive new applications for membership missing required information. When I email them back, more often than not, I never get a reply from them. Without that information required for membership I have no choice but to eventually delete their request.

        Need Trans fixed

Had done on car removed and reinstalled steering control valve and piston and they sent both pieces out to be overhauled, bleed system of air, replaced left and right upper control arm bushings,I supplied ,performed alignment, replaced both u-joints that were loose, replaced leaking fuel pump assembly. I asked why would you do alignment and put car in gear with loose bolt in transmission hanging that's the servo bolt they said in time the gears will go out and to just check the transmission fluid and that needs to be fixed so I'm going to have to find some garage to fix this cant drive it and wait for bolt to shear off that would be stupid I don't know why garages don't just say that. I got 2 kids in my car that's not safe.

Hi Tara, Instead of creating a new thread each time, just click on Post Reply in this thread. Otherwise, we are gonna have many different threads. I have been merging your threads, trying to keep them all in one thread. So when you want to comment or ask questions, just click on the Post Reply button to this thread and post here.

I see you registered it with the Tbird Registry (Registry #41525) back in October of last year. That is good. I also see that you did not post the Data Plate information, but once you get it off the plate, you can do an update on your Registry # and add it to it.

We got our parts from Fatsco. http://fatsco.com/

Most of the Tbirds have the medium case. Just have the info from the tag when you order your parts.

Also highly recommend Broader performance for a transmission rebuild in Weatherford, TX. I had a hard time locating someone in Houston that knew what they were doing with older transmissions. People ship transmission to Jay from all other the world and he can even make mods to the transmissions to fix known weaknesses.

Thanks for posting that info for her, James! That tag is on the drivers side (as I recall) case of the tranny or should be and tells you what model tranny you have.

I just uploaded the information on Rocker Repair, Replacement and Parts to the TRL. It is in the Body section. Thanks, Dave ~ simplyconnected for the links!

Tara, unfortunately, I have not heard from anyone in your area regarding who is a reputable auto repair shop you can trust. I hope you can find one.

My '59 needed some tranny work and I learned that a local shop is run by a fella who worked for Ford back in that day. He even had a couple parts on his shelf. He also has another, even older, fella that comes in once in a while on older projects, like my '39 Ford 1-½ flatbed. There are just a few years of Ford experience between 'em!

It's not a shop anywhere near our new member but perhaps he may be able to refer you to a parts source:
