    cleaning the surge tank.

I never opened up the surge tank until today and noticed no fluid in it whatso ever but what I did noticed was the tank had residue build up in it. THe radiator looks brand new. Havent changed the fluid for about two years. What procedure would you t-bird lovers suggest. Larry. Its a 62 ford t-bird convertible.

Sorry, I did not notice this separate post.

If the residue is slimy (and not rust colored) it is most likely separated silicates from today's coolants. You should perform a complete system flush followed a 50/50 mix of PRESTONE and distilled water.
