    Transmission chatter

I friend of mine has just got himself a 1960 T-bird and it's making some noise. he thinks it's in the trans. Could the Torque converter be doing this? If it's loose can it be tightened without taking out the trans?

I've had quite a few squarebirds that would buzz from the transmission on start up. It would go away when put in gear. The torque converter to flex plate bolts can be checked by taking the inspection plate off.

Mine would occasionally make a buzzing sound also. Thought I might be a little low on fluid, but it checks okay. From John's post, it sounds like it may not be worth worrying about. I have so many other challenges to deal with.

        Trans woe's

He said it shifts well and the fluid is ok it's constant. It does not speed up when he goes faster. We will try to look at it tomorrow. The inspection plate is a easy fix.
