Post Foreign auto companies irked by Obama snub at DC Auto Show

Filed under: Etc., Government/Legal, Chrysler, Ford, GM

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama visited the Washington Auto Show, and he even had time to get a closer look at a few vehicles. We're guessing that the carmakers were more than happy to set aside some time to talk to the Commander In Chief, but not every automaker got the chance.

Bloomberg says that the Association of Global Automakers is upset because the president only spent time with the Detroit Three, even though other automakers reportedly flew in executives from around the world for the occasion. The executives were reportedly on hand and waiting in a "bullpen" in the event President Obama had any questions about specific vehicles, but The Pres stuck to American cars like the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Chevrolet Silverado.

AGA CEO Michael Stanton voiced his disappointment about the perceived slight, adding that many members "bent over backwards to meet the request from the White House." Stanton also points out that AGA members have invested $43 billion in the U.S. and employ over 80,000 workers here.Foreign auto companies irked by Obama snub at DC Auto Show originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 03 Feb 2012 10:00:00 EST. I would be MORE irked if our president DIDN'T see the domestic cars first. You forgot to report, how many cars there are at the show, and how much time did he spend!

I believe President Obama, who represents the entire US, has more of an interest in domestics. Too bad most Americans don't encourage that example of patriotism.

Maybe the writer of this article is Communist Chinese. - Dave

Typical attitude of a lot of "furin" nations that we owe them. Not all but a lot.

Tariff all the imports or limit them to how many they import of American cars. Our cars were once the envy of the world.

I realize some are put together here but the BIG money goes overseas.

Nuff said - Grrrrrr

At least Kim Jong-il went out in style. He really pimped that ride!

GOOD FOR HIM !!! !!! !!! !!!

I and nobody in my my family has ever bought a car that was not a product of Chrysler Corp., FoMo Co or GM.

I don't care where they make it (the Japanesse) the profits go to Japan. or Germay or Sweeden or China or France or England.

As an American, we buy American. Go to Japan and look & se how many folks are driven Lincoln Town Cars or Chevrolet Impalas.
They make good money manufacturing stuff, but they drive their contries brands. There is a lessen somewhere in that ! It's called "Be True To Your Own People" !
