So how much do you think this is worth

I went and looked at this beast today.... Front window is broke, back window is gone, side glass is okay. Interior is so so, dash is craked, headliner is shot, chrome is starting to go bad. Motor is there, don't know if it runs,

    What do you all think.

Hmm, how much rust? - a lot of $$$ can go west getting rust sorted.

IF it is otherwise staight and all the bits are there I would look at offering $2,000 maybe - price up all the bits it needs and deduct that from $5,500 which is what you would pay for a tidy, complete needing little done driver and see what that leaves you with - probably LESS than $2,000!!

Well, he is asking $1,100 for it, or trade for a Squarebird, but I like my squarebirds so not wanting to do that.

Well, I talked with him again yesterday and learned that the title is a salvage title. He claimed that was becuase he had to get it reissued..... I told him when he really badly needs the eyesore out of his yard, to let me know.

RustyNCa being from Canada and not requiring titles, am I correct to presume that a " salvage title" means excatly that??
The owner?? cannot sell as he would if he had a "clear title" ??

If you mean the owner can't sell the car, no.

It is supposed to desigante that the car was heavily damaged in the past, be it in a wreck, flood, theft, etc. It is supposed to put the buyer on notice that the car is not "perfect" and may have been rebuilt.

Most people in the states won't buy a car with a salvage title, or if they do, they expect a large discount in the price of the car.

I have heard that it is possible to "wash" a title, but I can't remember how. I looked at a CTS-V once that was a good deal, till I learned that the title was clouded with a salavge, it wasn't discounted enough for me to buy it...

RustyNCa thanks for the explanation. It basically tells evryone
" buyer beware". It would appear that you have made the right choice.

Rusty, it depends on what you want to do to it. I didn't see any body damage. The roof is rusted, so you are going to have to find out from a body shop what can be done to fix it. Why is it a salvage title? I am worried about the water that got passed the missing back window. Are front and rear windows easily available and reasonable? Fender skirts in trunk? Again, depends on what you are goig to do with it, I'm thinking $500. That project can be a lot of fun though.
