Hey Alex or anyone in the know

Do you know if the rubber seal/donut that is on the end of the 430 air cleaner snorkel is available. I have seen them on pics of 430 Lincolns and one pic of a T-Bird in the William Wonder restoration guide. Have not been able to locate one in vendors catalogs.

I think what they use on the snorkel end is weatherstripping that is used for panel edges and sunroofs.

JC Whitney sells some of this (Style A, Black 1/32" - 1/16" thick 7/16" height, Flexible Interior And Exterior Trim) http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...wflag-1#review

Look at it and see what you think.

From what I've seen and heard, the snorkel end on the 430 Thunderbird is plain, no holes. The same snorkel used on the Lincoln and Merc has holes for several staples to hold some sort of trim. Is this the donut/trim you refer to?

I'll look on my 1960 again, but I know right now it doesnt have any sealing strip on the end of the snorkel, nor do I remember seeing any holes were staples might have originally gone into it...
