    Ignition switch Wooes

Can any one out there offer advice on a place that has good ignition switches.

I have been threw 3 switches in the past 2 years they seem to have an issue with staying together they just like to fall apart driving down the road, and the car no longer goes forward or back-wards for that matter

OK all kidding aside these switches I have gotten at the local auto parts place are (shall I say it) Crap . my wife would like to drive the car but I don't blame her when she won't drive it.

any help locating good switch is greatly appreciated.

    Ignition Switch Woes

Have you tried Bob's Bird House, Bird Nest, Larry's, Concours, and the others? One of them should have what you are looking for.

Not yet, I am however getting ready to take a drive down to concord, Ca and check out TBird HQ. They are 1.5 Hours away, I need to pick up some steering parts and they promised me a tour of the shop . nice day trip to the bay area.

I was just wondering if any one else was having an issue.

Or if it was just my luck of the draw.

George, if you watch EBay there are , every so often, NOS ignition switches. The quality would seem to be darned good, given how many old Squarebirds still have the factory original switch.

That said, you are using the key to work them , not a heavy screw driver, aren't you??

I have bought an ignition switch from TB Headqtrs a few years back and haven't had any issues since. In matter of fact, I buy a lot of parts from them (20 minutes away) and they always backed up their products. I've had a tour, too! 80 to 680 to 4 won't be to bad of a ride, either. Take the wife to Walnut Creek and make an afternoon out of it.

We used to come down for the Good Guys show but got tired of the over priced swap meet.

I was down in Walnut Creek about every other month on business, always enjoyed the 680 drive.

If you have a chance, see if you can find a NIEHOFF switch. It may have to be ordered but the quality should be as good as OEM as it may likely have been supplied by them. Most competent parts jobbers carry the line.

It should save you some bucks over the specialty houses.
