Front Suspension Rebuild/Replacement

Thanks guys! Ive been a little distracted with the engine these past few weeks. This 429 is coming along nicely


I've yet to call Rock Auto about these bushings but I think I'll go with a Kanter Kit....I see what you guys are saying about USA made bushings but I'm not sure how much more expensive it will be if I build a kit myself from a particular site.

Anyone build their own front suspension package??

Another question I have is about springs. What would lead me to believe that I need new front springs and such?

If you are an engine builder, you already know the difference between using old valve springs and new ones.

Front coil springs in your suspension work the same way.
I suggest you buy quality rubber bushings and new front coil springs. Your car will ride like it did when new. Follow your Service Manual instructions to the letter. - Dave

I just went and dug out the coil springs off of the 59 it has the yellow stripe. 352 auto w/factory air.

Keith, how on earth did you get a spring compressor in there??? There just isn't any room.

Hi guys
Has anyone out there put in a Mustang 2 front end? i know a guy who put in a rear but am wondering about a front, concerning handling versus less leaking?

Squarebird front ends are much stronger than Mustang's, and they have very long double "A" arms (that Mustang could only wish for). To retrofit, would be a step in the wrong direction.

Mustang front ends use "K" arms above the engine for strength that Squarebirds don't need because the #2 crossmember on a SB is much stronger.

We've considered this before and have concluded that Squarebirds are much heavier and there has never been the slightest dis-satisfaction from the front end's engineering or performance. - Dave
