Here are a few pix of what Rose looks like now. I will get the rest, including the prep pix, up on my web page as soon as I can this afternoon. Joe called and woke me up to come see her. I think she looks beautiful. If I have this correct, there are 8 coats of paint on her, then 2 coats of pearlescent and then 3 or 4 coats of clear. I lost count. They wanted to put another coat of pearlescent on her, but they were afraid that it would darken the color to much. As it is, the second coat of pearl did darken it some. Joe told me that each additional coat of pearl does darken the base color more. But I think she really looks great! I was thinking of having them paint a yellow band up the sides of the top and across the front, Watson style, but changed my mind. Instead, I asked them to highlight the top by painting the windshield wiper and back window areas white and joint them together with a white stripe. Then I asked Joe to put some white "tail feathers" on her. So he painted the tail fins white! They will let the paint set for a few days to get a good drying effect on it, then start the after paint process. Here are some pix.

"Tweety Bird" Revealed!!
Hi Cathie,
Thanks! Yes, the paint is a bit darker than what I expected. I knew that the dashpad yellow was going to be off some. I may have to have that repainted down the road. It has a slight greenish effect to it which might be the black underneath it trying to show through. When you look inside the car though at the yellow on the seats, and at the exterior paint, it does seem to be pretty close to a match. I looked at that pretty closely this morning. Keep in mind that you are looking at the interior of the car with the windows rolled up.
I had a number of people at other paint and body places and paint companies tell me it was difficult to match the interior paint color to the exterior paint color. Also, keep in mind that these pix were taken on a dark, overcast day this morning. Joe says wait til the sun comes out, that it will look brighter. In any case, that is the color it is...Last edited by YellowRose; June 3, 2010, 01:38 PM.

"Tweety Bird" Revealed!!
Hi Keith!
Yes, I am happy to see her about to be put back together again. However, it does not look like she will be ready in time to make the VTCI Regional as I had hoped. I just got the electric windshield wiper motor in today from Bird Nest. That will go on as soon as I get her out of the paint and body shop. I just finished posting pix of the paint work over on my web page.

"Tweety Bird" Revealed!!
Hi John,
Thanks! When I was looking for a '59, I wasn't looking for a yellow one. As I have said before, I was looking for a turquoise one instead but could not find one for sale at the time. Later, after I bought her, I did. So I settled on yellow because that was Faye's favorite color of rose, but brighter. She also liked Tweety Bird a lot and had a lot of blouses or shirts with Tweety Bird on them. In fact, there is a stuffed Tweety Bird that sits behind the couch that my grandkids have played with for years. It is going in the car eventually I would imagine.
Yes, it is bright, and yes they are going to start the rubbing and post paint procedures in a couple of days, after the paint dries really well. Then it will be time to put the chrome back on, which has now all been re-chromed and is all sitting in my garage, along with half the interior that has to be put back in! I can't wait to see what she will look like with newly re-chromed bumpers, grill, tail lights that have shined up, spears, door handles, new mirror and trim. Probably by the end of next week, that will be done. I am going to miss the VTCI Regional in Fort Worth, it seems, unfortunately..

stunning
absolutely stunning Ray and very original and personal which I love. My dads first bird was a 58 that was yellow with a black top and it was a stand out. Yours will always look like it has a light on it anywhere it goes. The early corvette cove treatment really looks at home on "tweety".
Congratulations on your efforts. GrantGrant
