I just got an email from Bart with pix of his Raven that he sold to Jeremy ~ Aussie Tbird! The Raven is alive and well in Aussie Land! I also found that we have an AussieTbird ~ Peter and Aussie Tbird ~ Jeremy on this Forum. Both from Australia, of course! Peter owns, the last I heard, a J Code '60 Tbird! Here is Raven styling in the lush countryside Down Under! Notice she is sporting a shoulder harness now. Enjoy!

This Tbird Should Look Familiar 2 U!
I emailed Jeremy ~ Aussie TBird and he replied. He tried to post the pix himself, but as a non-paid member cannot. So he sent them to me to post. Here is what he had to saw about the installation of the shoulder harnesses. Then the pix.
The shoulder harnesses (seat belts) are fastened up top in a solid section of the rear pillar frame. The retractable unit is mounted behind the rear armrests and bolted to the frame of the car. To do this, thin spacers were inserted to move the armrest out just enough to allow the belt to slide up and down without obstruction. (also hides the ugly mechanism) The armrest looks and fits no different to before the belts were fitted. Unfortunately in Queensland, any car built 1960 onwards must be fitted with shoulder harness style seat belts.
If you need further info please email John at Gasoline Alley in Brisbane, Australia. www.gasolinealley.com.au and email sales@gasolinealley.com.au
He did the installation, amongst other work, and comes highly recommended.
I have attached pics, hope this helps.
Love the car!
Regards, Jeremy.

I thought of something similar on my '66 - only I wondered how is a roof that was never designed to hold the top of the seat-belt going to cope in a crash?
I bet the dude that designed the car is not likley to say 'oh yeah go ahead' otherwise they would have been fitted at Wixom imho.
Queensland has some funny rules - or use to, for example you are/were not allowed to fit an easily bolted independent front suspension and disc-brakes to your '36 Ford "because it was not designed that way" yet you can fit shoulder-belts to a car not designed for it?
Jeremy, is that modification 'signed-off by a qualified engineer?.A Thunderbirder from the Land of the Long White Cloud.Comment
