1961 T-Bird with a weird problem

I got a 61 that had a problem starting when it got hot i changed the solinoid and the ground to the engine...it seems to be fixed but today i got a new problem when i drove the car it wouldnt turn off i turn the key the radio goes off the window switches dont work but the engine doesnt turn off.I had to unplug a wire on the solinoid to turn the car off ...any thoughts would be great .just a note it did this once before after i change the ground and everything i changed the solinoid but that didnt help...

You almost certainly switched the two small wires on the solenoid. Hawkrod

i will check that but would it work fine for awhile and then do it again...and a side note a little while ago i notice it smoking and that was the coil burning up (bubbling out) what kind of fluid is in a coil?

Not the coil just changed it know im thinking wiring somewhere..
