What Is This Golde Top Worth As Is?

    Ray,

Have access to purchasing this 1960 Sunroof T-bird. As you can see by the photo's, it is TOTALLY dissembled. Has had new front suspension, rear springs and rebuilt 3rd member. It has factory AC, the hard to find windbar for the Golde Top, rear seat is like new. I think the interior is black. Has a 352 and COM tranny, but the status of them is not known. Has minor rust on hood lip, rear fenders (over wheel well). The removed parts were "bagged" and labeled as removed. In my opinion, the main value of this is that it is a factory sunroof. The present owner does not have the wherewithall to restore it.

The fate of this '60 Golde Top is that it is probably headed for a crusher if it is not rescued. Do you know of anyone looking for a sunroof vehicle, and what do you feel that a value of this might be in present condition? Please provide some input directly to Lance so he can get an indication as to what you think it's value is, as is. He is thinking that if it worthwhile, he might buy it and save it. He is thinking that if someone who has a 60 hardtop wants to have a Golde Top, it might be worth obtaining this Tbird just for the working Golde Top. Chop the hardtop and replace it with this one.... If anyone has an interest in doing that, contact Lance for seller information. Please send your comments to Lance as quickly as possible so that he will have a better idea of what this might be worth and if it is worth saving. He said that any thoughts are appreciated.

I sympathise with the Guy unable to continue the project.
I think a fair price would be around $2 to $3 Grand.

        Sure it has A/C?

I don't see the big box on the firewall but maybe it's been taken off?
I can't see it being worth more than $500 at most. No value after it's restored either. Now if this was a 55-57 Tbird!

Sure hate to see it scrapped out but that's the most likely outcome.

He should post if it has a good title or not?
Can you post where the car is located?

What Is This Golde Top Worth As Is?

If you notice, this thread was posted nearly a year ago... I can tell you, having just talked briefly with Lance's wife at Thunderbird Southwest, it does appear that Lance did obtain it. Either to use as a parts car or a possible future restoration. She said it is pretty much a shell of a car. As you can see by some of the pix, the door panels are off, parts are bagged, labeled and boxed up. It has some rust issues. Lance was talking with a customer and hopefully, will call me later with what he intends to do with this Golde Top. Apparently, it did not get crushed....

What Is This Golde Top Worth As Is?

I just spoke with Lance Harrington of Thunderbirds Southwest about this Golde Top. He certainly does own it, and has the title to it also. He confirmed that it is a shell, without an engine or tranny. It did have, at one time, a 352 engine and a COM in it, but I gather he did not get those. However, he has both that could be put in it. Overall, he says the Tbird is in pretty good condition, the rust is minimal, trunk is in really good condition, as is the interior. It is missing the steering wheel, but he has those on hand. It does have factory AC, and he said the Golde Top is in very good condition. It also has the unobtainian wind bar in place. The last I heard, that was selling for around $500 some years back. He just told me that if you try to buy one now, it will cost you about $3000. For $3,500 you can have that wind bar AND the Golde Top with everything that he has to go with it. That price is negotiable. Look below to see what else he had to say about it last year.

He says that a person could do three things with this Golde Top. Actually, there are probably four... 1) Buy it and restore it because over all, it is in pretty good condition. 2) Buy it, chop the Golde Top off it and put it on a '58, '59, or '60 so you can have a Golde Top, or 3) just use it as a parts car. You could probably get your money back just by selling the wind bar by itself! 4) One other thing that he says you could do if you happen to own a Grand Marque or a Crown Victoria, is buy it, chop the top off your Grand Marque or Crown Vic and make it a Golde Top! Just saying....

If you would like additional information, just contact Lance. His contact information is in the post below...
