    Parking brake

    Hi
The parking brake is too weak on my bird. The ordinary brakes are good. I have trying to tighten the brake cables at the equalizer rod to remove all slack. The problem is that if I have adjusted the equalizer so the brake shoes are not against the drum the equalizer lever goes to its stop before the brake is fully engaged. I think it’s a very short distance for the cable (behind the equalizer lever) between a fully released parking brake handle and fully engaged brakes. Maybe new brake shoes (thicker) are the solution? Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Have you properly adjusted the rear brake shoes? They might not be close enough to the drum.

      Thanks,
Yes I think so. I expanded the adjusting screw until the shoes drag against the drum, then I backed of the adjusting screw around 14 notches, as described in the shop manual. Perhaps 14 notches is to much?
