Bart looks great man.I just happen to have a partial roll of tar paper in the shed.I knew I was saving that for something.I guess that cheap insulation I bought will come to some use,as a template anyway.

I think I'll buy the set on ebay and remove the fiberglass, just using the backing. Prob look pretty close.

        Hood Insulation

John I don't know if I would do that.I bought the ones with the insulation.I used them as templates for the ones I made out of felt paper. When I removed the insulation the backing was paper thin.
I had some 30lbs felt in my shed and like Gary said I cut out two pieces of each pattern and glued the together with extra strength spray glue, then I glued them in place with construction adhesive.Worked great.

          TChicken --

          Looks sooooo good !!!!!!

Yours looks darker than mine -- "Felt" is the same as "Tar Paper" right? Which construction adhesive?

          Neat job.

Bart yes that is tar paper I had left over from a patch job on my roof.I used subflooring adhesive, the kind you use in a chalk gun.I just happened to have the subfloor glue from when I built my deck,so basically I did the job for free if you don't count the labor. After all it is a labor of love right LOL

Sorry guys, I though I'd be posting some pics right now but I didn't get the chance this weekend. Maybe this weekend I'll have some pics on here. Sorry, my TBird is kept in my parents garage ( I live across town) and when I did see them after church Sunday, I didn't have a digital camera with me....

Jon we should all have such a problem that our Dad's got us involved in these wonderful cars. Mine had Buick's, Dodge's
and then finally turned to Ford albeit a nice 64 T-Bird.

Regretably both my parents are gone, but when I saw my Squarebird in that mans front yard, memories of my Dad's 59 came flooding back and I knew I would own that car. There are days when I wish I had never seen it,but all in all I love my Squarebird.

Grandpa bought mine from the original owner in California in 1978. I inherited it about 5 years ago.

The prize that will be mine one day (Dad's got it now) is a 1957 Eldorado Baraitz (sp?) that Grandpa bought as the family car in 1959. Mom and Dad dated in it.

Here are the hood insulation pics off my 2nd owner 1960 430cid T-Bird. Note there is NO white paint anywhere on this flat black insulation:

The last pic shows the missing peice area, the white over spray is where I did some touching up:

Here is the lid insulation inside my truck. I thought is was black like under my hood was, but this is a tanish and rougher textured looking material:

In this shot, I tried to capture the thickness of the trunk material:
