Todd and Doug...Here is what the numbers in the 1960 Squarebird Production Run in the TRL tells me about your VIN #'s and Date Code... Remember, the Data Plates were produced in bulk before the Rotation/Build Sheets. Each day at the start of production the line manager/supervisor (whatever his title) was given the Rotation/Build sheets with the Date and each VIN # on the sheet and stamped into the car was supposed to be built that day. (so the oldtimer production workers told me before they passed away). They were given a projected number to build each shift (if they had more than one) or each day. Sometimes they did not meet that quota due to line problems, restocking, etc.. Other days, they exceeded that quota. In the very beginning of production, as they were gearing up to build the new 1960 Squarebirds, they were only building a couple of hundred a day, according to the Production figures. As they got further into production that daily count jumped into the 300's, and in the latter part, the upper 400's right at the 500 mark. I think, if memory serves me right, they hit 500 once towards the end.
Toddgilroy VIN 0Y73Y176717 and date code of G25 - July 25th, ESTIMATED Production Date of the Data Plate. According to the 1960 Squarebird Production Records in the TRL, IF you have your Rotation/Build Sheet it should say that your Tbird was actually built on Friday, July 22nd, 3 days early, ahead of schedule.
dgs VIN - OY73Y178022 Build date - 26G - July 26th, ESTIMATED Production Date of the Data Plate. According to the 1960 Squarebird Production Records in the TRL, IF you have your Rotation/Build Sheet it should say that your Tbird actually was built on Tuesday, July 26th at the very end of the Tuesday shift, 6 Tbirds short of the last Bird built that day, which put production at 78,028! They were closed on Saturday and Sunday. 1,305 cars and 4 days apart if I did my math right....
June Production total 74,419
July Production total 79,380
Starting 1 July on a Friday, production was at 74,419 on June 30th. On the 1st of July they built 457 Tbird + 1 Export and closed down the plant until July 18th for the 4th and for plant maintenance... It is my understanding that they were also quite ahead of the production schedule at this time.
So on July 1st, they had produced 74,419 + 458=74,877

Thanks, Ray! I sort of have my ROT sheet. It was in pieces and stained from moisture and age, so the letters and numbers are illegible.
There was a mummified mouse under my console that was more intact than my ROT sheet.
Appreciate the info!Todd Gilroy

I have not found mine yet. I had the rear seat out and it wasn't there. Haven't had to remove the front seat yet.
I was aware that the build date was a target, not a guarantee. 1,300 cars did seem like a lot for one day.Comment
