I have no low beam lights just the high beam lights all four of them come on. I went to Nappa and tried a new switch same thing again. Sprayed some electrical cleaner into the switch and into the prong plug still nothing. I remenbered several weeks ago that the low beam lights would come on but not at all now. There is three wires that go into the switch I imagine one is hot and the other two for the high and low beam. I have a electrical manuak Iam on page 79.How would I test the plug for any of the two headlights. What I dont understand that all four lights come on as they should. Thanks Larry

Larry,
The red/black wire from the high beam switch controls the low beams by themselves. The high beam/low beam combination is controlled by the green/black wire which is why both are working that way. I believe there's a plug in the front behind the drivers headlight or in the engine bay. Haven't worked on one in awhile. I'd start there.

No low beam by itself
Hi John So I should check the low beam light position the inside light. I can put a dvm hooked up to the low beam plug and see if the plug is good or if I have voltage coming to the plug also. Would that be correct Or try tracing the wire all the way back to the fire wall its a bear back there John. Thanks LarryComment

I would start at the low beam headlight plug on the drivers side with a test light or meter and work my way back. Since you already replaced the dimmer switch it has to be from the firewall to the headlight. Probably corrosion or a loose connection.John Pizzi - Squarebirds Administrator

no low beam lights
Top of the afternoon too you John. Went out this morning and remove the low beam light. I then turned on the lights and lo and behold the high beam was there again then I switched to the low beam with still power and stick by tester in all the sockets in the plug and found no voltage at all. Shouldnt it have showed something. I pushed the dimmer switch a couple of times and there was the passenger side light on. I then rehooked the bulb into the socket and then I had no low beam at all. Shouldnt I have some type of voltage coming through the plug with it turned on. I cant find the stinkin groud for the headlight bulb the electrical diagram shows it right next to the light. Larry,
With the dimmer switch on you should have voltage on the green/black wire at the low beam headlight plug. Withe the switch off you should have voltage at the red/black wire. I'm not sure where the ground wire is but I would make sure that's making good contact.

no low beam
Hello John. When I was working the dimmer switch and the front driver side out and reassembled the damm low be came on momentarly. Then puff it was off. Tried jiggling wires to no avail. I even used a jumper with the switch pulled out stuck one end into the voltage side and touch the low side but still nothing. I dont thing this dimmer has a ground because all four lights come on but no low beam. According to the electrical book I purchased from John Draxler at his Thunderbird RanchComment

You can bypass the dimmer switch. Just unplug it and run a jumper from the red/black wire to the red/yellow wire and see if your low beams come on.John Pizzi - Squarebirds Administrator
