    Final Four Missing Technical Tips

Other than the graphics for the Tom Young Restoration project, I am missing these three sets of graphics:

    1. AC Installation & Instructions 60 Tbird
    2. Trunk Mat Instructions
    3. Disk Brake Conversion

Frank58, do you have these also? I sure hope so. If anyone else does, on paper, or the actual graphics files, please let me know. Does anyone have the Tom Young graphics? If we can get these graphics, I will have all the missing graphic sets to recreate them.

Also, I am told that when you look at those graphics on the 1958 Tbird Service Manual I re-created, if you use Control+, it will increase the size of the graphics and you will be able to read them better. I tried it, but it did not work for me. It just increased the size of the text next to it. But try it and see if it works for you.

      Final Four Missing Technical Tips

      Hi Frank!

I was hoping you would be able to come through again! You have done so well with the others. Maybe someone else will have them. Even if they just printed them out, I can scan from that. It worked out well on the first one I recovered. I just scanned in those pages and edited out the text in a graphics editor. Please let me know if you have anything that will help me complete this project, guys!

I just tried the internet Wayback machine but struck out on all but the disc brake instructions. There are 2 of the images available on this page. If you have scans of printed pages, you might try the Wayback machine to see if the images are there.

I'm sure that this has been suggested as well, but has anyone tried to contact Alexander's wife to see if he had any backups on his home PC?

          Final Four Missing Technical Tips

          Hi Doug!

Thank you for that information! I did pick up those two graphics in the Disk Brake section, but had to stop. With all the years of experience I have with computers and the internet, I would think I would have known about the Wayback site, but that was a new one to me. I have bookmarked it and am about to get back into to.

Before I had to leave for awhile, I went back to 2002 backups, or 2003, and found when the Disk Brake Conversion item was first backed up. It was missing those graphics then! (Except for those two) So I dont know if something went wrong and those missing graphics never got uploaded for that webpage or what. You would have thought that if they were all there at one time, the backup would have picked them up. However, I am going back into it and am going to go through ever backup there is, and look at those four missing sections.

The same thing applies to the Tom Young Restoration. The very first time it shows up on the website and is backed up, all the files are missing. Maybe Alexander had to take them off for some reason.

Yes, it has been suggested to our Administrators that someone see if they can get in contact with Julie (the home phone and cell phone numbers for Alexander have been disconnected) to see if it is possible to access his backups or his PC and regain those missing files before it is truly to late. (And it might be)

Thank you so very much for providing me with the information regarding Wayback. I am going to check with Anders to see what he has on paper!

            Final Four Missing Technical Tips

I have just completed an exhaustive review of every backup listed on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine for Squarebirds.org, and I am exhausted The first backup was on Nov. 5, 2002. The last one ws June 25, 2007. Wayback does not record any backups before or after those dates. In between, there were backups done from day to day, or week to week, or month to month, or every two months. I guess that was dependent how often things were being uploaded to the server.

The bad news is that I did not find ONE graphic (other than the 2 referenced earlier) that we are missing. Even when a backup was made shortly after a new subject was started, the graphics for those four missing subjects did not show up in the backup! Either they never got loaded or for some reason, the backups failed to pick them up. Even the Tom Young Restoration graphics were missing on the very next backup after it was posted..

Sooo, no more backups are being done on our website, as far as Wayback is concerned...and the graphics are still missing and have been all along, according to the backups I looked at and that was ALL of them... Help!!! I hope someone has them, or we can get access to Alexander's PC or backups!

Now for some good news! I JUST got permission from Dennis Vieira, who wrote some great articles about our Tbirds, on the NECC website. New England Classic Cars, http://www.newenglandclassics.org/ to use his articles in our Technical section. They will be .pdf files, so you will have to have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view them. I will put a link to Adobe on the webpages.

Ray great stuff and I am sure everyone will benefit from these links.

              To All Members and Visitors.

I have been trying to contact Alexander's wife ( Julie ) over the last several months, in an attempt to retreive pertinent information that she may have on our site. The latest attempt was to send an e-mail to 59tbird@prodigy.net as apparently someone ordered a detent plate using that e-mail and they received it.To that person, if you read this post please let me know the address that was used as the sender and perhaps I can track it. IF I make contact with Julie I will certainly let evryone know in a thread . In the meantime, Ray, John and the other administrators / moderators will continue the running our site with your help. IF anyone in New York or New Jersey knew Alexander on a personal level and can get me a phone number for Julie, I will be more then happy to call her.She may have a couple of boxes of Alexander's that contain a ton of information regarding memebership list, dues and so on of our site.

Is there anyway to remove the "Happy Valentines Day" greeting on the homepage? I don't want to give visitors a feeling this is a slow or a "behind the times" T-Bird website. Because it is NOT.

You guys are doing a great job after Alexander's passing and I think you for ALL your hard work.

Ray, Tom Young is a member, thinking he may have the files if you contact him via e-mail, I don't see him logged in very much. Just a thought.

Thanks for the information about Tom Young being a member. I looked under the T's and the Y's in the member listing and could not find him. I thought he might be. Do you or anyone know Tom's user id he was using here? If I could get his email address that would be great! Maybe we could restore all those photos he had posted and re-create those two articles!

As for the Heart logo, that is something that I assume Alexander did depending on the season. When going through the backups, I would see different ones for different holiday seasons. Maybe driller or someone who is taking care of the website can change it to a summer one for us? Personally, for the moment, I think it is appropriate, for Alexander had a lot of "heart" for all who came to know him...

It was me who just bought the detent plate... I bought it right off the main page of the site... it takes you here

down at the bottom is the address where it was sent from (PO Box).
The 59tbird@prodigy.net e-mail address was the "sold to" from paypal.

The person who did the Technical Tip on disk brake conversion was Rick Nolen. Does anyone know if he is/was a member? If so, what his user id or email address is? I do not find him in the Members List under Rick or Nolen.. If I can get an email address for him, maybe he can provide us with the missing pictures.. I have not yet heard back from Tom Young. I hope that was a good email address for him.

Thanks to Mike, Tom Young replied to my email. He is going to see if he can round up those pictures from his restoration project and get them to me. He is not sure what Alexander posted. So I gave him the link to the two articles of his that Alexander did post. Hopefully, from that, he can figure out the pictures and send them to me to re-create. He was glad to hear that we are doing all we can to keep this website and forum going.
