    Package Tray removal

How do I remove the package tray from a 58 squarebird? The manual, under rear window replacement, says remove screws from inside the luggage compartment. I can't locate any screws which look correct. I'm not thrilled with just starting to loosen "stuff". Do I need to remove the decklid panel first, and does that mean I need to replace weatherstripping? thanks, for any insight.

      Hey Peter,
Check your manual closely. As Dakota boy said you will have to get in the truck to see the screws.

Had to remove my back seat to get mine out ('60). Removed the three screws from the trunk area but after 40 years of being in the same place it didn't want to come loose very easily. The rubber strip stayed in one piece - thank goodness.

          Package Tray removal

It has been said before, but it needs to be said again... Before you EVER crawl into your trunk, make sure someone has the key to it, and knows you are getting into your trunk... Make sure they are close by in case you need to get out. And/or, block your trunk in some way so that it cannot possibly shut on you and lock you inside....

              Rubber strip ?? (gulp)
I just took my package tray out for repainting with the SEM Color Coat, and I didn't notice a rubber strip. Where is it located ? Did you have these do-hickeys on either end of the underside of the tray?

The rubber strip is glued to the piece that goes over the back seat, not the package tray itself.
