    Rick-southbound's '64 Tbird Question

Rick sent me a couple of pix that you who own Flairbirds can probably quickly answer. He just recently got this Tbird, and does not yet have a shop manual. I think he got the Owners Manual with the car though. The answer to his question might be in it, but maybe not. I will post a couple of pix for him. He wants to know what the two knobs with the letter D and F are for and what the three red lights in between do. One of them is a door light, apparently, because he says it comes on when he opens the door, if I got that right. The other two he does not know what they are supposed to indicate. He is going to order an owners manual, and perhaps some of the other manuals. He is planning on doing a lot of the work himself. He thinks that he might have to either have the tank taken off and de-gunked, and perhaps the lines. My suggestion is that if it is the original tank, he might just want to get a new one, and new lines, or clean out the lines. He was also thinking of replacing the carb, but he might just be able to overhaul it. He certainly is open to your suggestions.

He would also like to know if there is anyone who owns a Flairbird in the Midland/Odessa/Big Lake area. If so, he would certainly like to make contact with you. Here are the pix about the instrument panel controls he has questions about.

Found it, I new I had seen those toggle switchs...

Safety-Convenience Control Panel with Vacuum Door Locks
    Shown left to right:
    - Vacuum Door Lock toggle control
    - Door Ajar warning light (flashes after 15 seconds*)
    - Low Fuel warning light
    - Flasher indicator light
    - Flasher toggle control (flick up to activate flashers as shown)

*A special light bulb (#256) with a built-in flasher is used in the "Door Ajar" warning instead of the #1445 bulb used for the other indicators.

      Rick-southbound's '64 Tbird Question

Thank you, Eric! That is where I should have looked, had I thought about it. I guess the letter "D" indicates it is the Vacuum Door Lock toggle switch and the letter "F" is for the Flasher toggle switch.

Yep, didn't know that one light was a low fuel warning light. That is interesting to know, don't think I have ever seen it light up on our 65.
