    Regarding Tires

    Just curious for future reference.

How would I go about switching tires if I ever wanted to? Mine are 195/75r14. So I know I would have to change to 15 inch rims. Would I be able to use my wheel covers or would I have to switch the hubcaps too?

Would a tire like this be possible to do? White Wall Tires G78-15.

Tires were taken off of a 1961 Corvette.
    -Cushion ride
    -4 ply Polyester
    -Tubeless
    -Tread wear 120
    -Traction B
    -Temperature C

Don't really know what all that means or how compatible it could be.

There's no reason to change rims. Stay with 14" tires and just mount them on your old rims. Those are old belted tires. You want radial tires if you plan on driving your car any distance. Never buy used tires unless you know the date they were manufactured. Old tires are worthless no matter how nice they look.

        John's right!

Here are my old and new tires.

The old ones had plenty of tread (old one on the left - new on right)

But they were 18 years old (that code on the tire that reads 4300 is a tire manufacture date of April 3 2000 or could be the 43'rd day of 2000)

I was headed out for breakfast one morning and one of the old tires broke a belt - you don't want that to happen. See that big bulge in the tire - broken belt.

With these big old heavy cars you definitely want new radials.
