Gap in windshield trim

A picture is worth 1000 words...

I'm seeing this collect bugs and crap, as well as funnel water while driving in the rain. How best to fill it without causing problems? Water that enters the trim from above needs a way to get out.

I'm thinking about urethane caulk around the top and sides. That way water can drain out the bottom.

Silicone

I use silicone all around the windshield. Works great. My gap is not so wide as yours.

We use urethane sealer at the factory. Windshield replacement shops use it too. Drive your car to a windshield place and ask them.

The 'secret' in using urethane or RTV is to get the surfaces clean and oil-free. The windshield shop has special chemicals for this job. An unclean surface will allow sealer to peal off with no problem. If the surfaces are clean, the only thing that will get urethane off the glass is a razor blade. - Dave

I'm for urethane over silicone hands down. Dave, do you think leaving the bottom unsealed is a wise move? It will allow water to drain.
