Assembling 1960 T-Bird trunk lock ornament

Recently bought a 1960 Coupe, found that the trunk lock cylinder had been changed, and the repairman left out some of the parts when re-assembling the ornament assembly. I bought the 2 springs. spacer, and retainer clip (which seemed to be the only missing parts)... but now can't figure out how the new parts fit into the sliding unit that hides the key slot when closed (spring-loaded). Would appreciate some guidance. Thanks!

Here are a couple of previous posts that may help you out. They can be frustrating to put back together, but with some patience, it's do able.

There are a few more posts. Just search "trunk lock cover"

      Thanks, TBird1044....

Turns out that the previous owner(s) modified this mechanism a bit... but after seeing your post and confirming that my original idea was correct, I shortened the springs a bit that came from my recent order, put a spacer on the screw and it all came together. Thanks!
