    Fuel pump

The fuel pump went out in my 352.

I rebuilt it last week after a leak.
It stoped workin on my way to a curise night
The chevy guys gave me ****, as I got her towed back to the shop.
I can get a Master 4710 fuel pump from advance auto parts.
I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these pumps?

    RE: Fuel pump

I have lots of problems with rebuilt fuel pumps for the 352. The common problem is that they leak, even with all the screws tightened. I once replace the pump four times in one week. Amazingly some would stop leaking after running them a bit. I never had one quit though. The only way that the pump would stop function completely is if the diaphram ripped.

The diaphragm was not ripped, it was disconnected from the arm.

What kind of pump did you put in to solve your problem

Wow, the arm ripped off from the diaphram on a new pump!

I have bought my rebuilt fuel pumps from NAPA. Be sure to specify that it needs to have the vacumm booster for the windshield wipers.

It was not new, just one I rebuilt myself.

Was interesting to rebuild, but think I'll leave it to the experts from now on!

Got a image of the broken part on my site http://www.angelfire.com/pa/59TBirdConv
            Look on my restoration page.

I can't say I ever saw a lever break off on these pumps. Do you think you put it together wrong?

Don't know why it broke, think if I installed incorrectly it would not have worked at all. Worked for about 15 miles.Just far enough to give me a false sense of security

Had a spare pump and have replaced broken part, going to install to night.

You can read the rebuild instructions in your repair manual. Very simple procedure

                  RE: Fuel pump

Rebuilt an old pump again, installed and worked, took for a short 3 mile ride. Decided to install a new fuel pump from Advance Auto Parts, Master 4710. Installed the pump today and took for a ride, looks like a good fix. The pump is new and not a rebuilt, made in Canada. Anyway hope this problem is behind me now!
