    Turn Signal cancelling C-Ring

John asked a few months ago which way does the C-Ring that cancels the signal faces, since some fo the Ford literature gives contradictory information on its position.

As you can see from the photos, it faces the passenger side when installed. The C-ring wears at the the bottom edge and thus functions less well. A remedy for this is to install it upside down which will expose a fresh sharp edge to the cancelling mechanism.

The C-ring can be removed without damage by spraying it with WD-40 and then using a needle nose pliers and screwdriver to slowly work it up and off the steering wheel.

    RE: Turn Signal cancelling C-Ring

    hi Alexander
thank you for your time and effort posting this.

Let me see if I have this correct: the middle spoke of the steering wheel goes down (6:00), the steering wheel is facing us in your photo
so the opening of it goes to the driver's left and the solid portion to the passenger's side ?? This, I believe, is consistent with the Ford Thunderbird Shop Manual but at odds with the exploded parts diagram.

    thanks again

The center spoke does face down, but with the steering wheel mounted on the column, the open part of the C is towards the passenger side.

With the wheel off, reverse side of the wheel showing and the center spoke down, the open C is towards the right.
